History of Horizontal Plate Clamps

A little bit of perspective and history of Horizontal Plate Clamps
Before the invention of the horizontal plate clamp, so many welding shops made their own types of clamps. The problem was that once the shop foreman or owner wasn’t there, usually the young apprentice would use this home-built device improperly and accidents would happen, some of them catastrophic.
Necessity drove the development of the horizontal plate clamp to provide a safe lifting device capable of handling a better range of thicknesses when loading plates onto burning tables.
As with all rigging equipment there are load ratings.
Horizontal plate clamps consist of a jaw with jagged edges that pivots and bites into plates that can only be in the horizontal position.
The good news is one set of two horizontal clamps does a wide range of thicknesses.
The plate clamp achieves success by safely lifting in any manner and under any circumstances.
