Let’s talk today about the common types of industrial cranes.
There are so many kinds of industrial cranes. Here are some common types that we at crane tech inspect on a daily basis.
The bridge crane. This type of crane travels on a set of steel runways. It is motorized in all directions so that the operator can lift loads not exceeding the capacity of the bridge crane. The most common capacity is 5 Tons.
The jib crane. This crane can be defined as an arm that rotates to reach a work station area. Most jibs are manually pushed and electrical lift assisted. A common capacity is 1 Ton.
The monorail crane. This type of crane lifts in a specific motion. They are used to help workers lift loads in a single movement situation. Again, powered up down and manually pushed. A common capacity is 1 Ton.
The workstation crane. This type of crane is similar to a bridge crane without power assist in the east west and north south direction. They are usually equipped with power up and down. A common capacity is 1,000 pounds.
