Cranes have upper limit switches to protect the worker

Cranes have upper limit switches to protect the worker and the workers in the environment. A limit switch prevents the chain from breaking due to the motor overcoming the strength of the chain and the load falling to the ground. This is a safety feature for your team and equipment. For some reason, and it’s not the first time I’ve seen this, one of our customers was parking the load hook as high as possible and always tripping the switch. One day it happened. The worker snapped the chain and the load hook ended up on the ground. Luckily nobody was hurt. Lucky there wasn’t any load on the hook. Also, luckily the upper limit switch protects the worker. The upper limit is designed as a safety feature. It isn’t designed to be tripped on a daily basis. The hoist was repaired and back into service. The large part of labour costs was the time that it took to release the brake because the chain was jammed up. Our team of technicians advises you of good lifting techniques when we see these kinds of issues. They are very helpful and want to keep your workers safe. They are trained to take on these tasks and to serve you. We are always upping our knowledge too. At Crane Tech we save you money. Using Crane Tech keeps your workers safe and keeps your equipment working for you. If you have questions, call us. We would love to support you. 1-705-734-0012
