Being on the crusher deck at a gravel plant is not for everyone! It was a very interesting experience. These decks can be upwards of 50’ above the ground level! Imagine, in the cool fall weather too in Ontario and being outside. Safety is our main priority. When you have 10 Ton vibrating conveyors plus the weight of the gravel, you better have significant structure to hold them up. One of the factors that is often overlooked is how loud these units are. Workers get used to this. But there is something to be said about having walkways and guarding and stairways as safe as possible to protect workers. Also making sure that the workers where their PPE too for safety. Support of these units requires cross bracing at all faces of the structure. Due to the dynamic nature of the crushing operation, the cross braces should be very well supported! Concrete pads are under constant vibratory forces that cause cracking. Combine that with water everywhere and weather changes – freezing – thawing – especially in the Barrie winters, the equipment may need an engineering and safety inspection. Crane Tech has become a leader at understanding aggregate operations. Thru the last 20 years we have written engineering reports for many of the pits across Ontario including in Peterborough, Vaughan, Toronto, Barrie and surrounding areas. These reports vary in scope. They report on site conditions and offer helpful advice on repairs. They report site conditions that should be addressed immediately for the safe use of equipment. We inspect platforms and walkways and structures and ladders and concrete service conditions. We also inspect stackers and lifting equipment and fall arrest equipment. So if you are looking for experts at gravel crushing equipment and structure inspection call us at 705-734-0012. If you are in the Lindsay or Peterborough areas give us a call. We inspect cranes, auto hoists, elevating lift platforms, bridge cranes to name but a few. We know your equipment best!
